One of the perks of divorce is the No-Kid Weekend. This is our first one since about September (We usually take Emily every Saturday due to the she-ex's work schedule) and it is so nice. I cleaned the house, people, without interruption! I slept in. Hubby and I are going for lunch today - ALONE! And last night, we hung out with the college kids - At a bar!
Phil and Jayme called and invited us out to see a friend's band play. The music was awesome, there were plenty of smart-ass comments made about the other bar patrons, we almost met the guy who just won five million dollars on a scratch ticket and when I got home, the room was spinning but I didn't throw up. So, all-in-all, it was a great night! It's nice to be reminded that the casino is not the only form of entertainment around here. *Ah hem*
While squeezing my flabby self throughout the crowds of college boys (yes, I said boys), I realized that my son could be there in 6 years. If he were playing on stage with a band, would he be mortified if I came to see him play? Or would he invite me as he did this week for the school talent show? Heh...Probably not. Maybe he'd invite his cool Uncle Phil and Aunt Jayme instead and they could keep all the little hussies away from him for me.
For now, I'll treasure these last years of innocence - My golden haired talented boy happy to have Mom as his #1 fan.
So, on the second day of my no-kid weekend, I'm missing my sweethearts while cleaning the beer off my shoes.
