33 going on 13

We went to Canada's Wonderland again yesterday. We brought our 13 year old next door neighbor and my son's 10 year old friend with us. The friend has a terrible crush on the neighbor and spent all of his time following her around. This drove the neighbor crazy. She told me that she'd rather go out with my son than his friend. As far as I can tell, my son hasn't noticed girls yet and is not interested in any kind of boyfriend/girlfriend relationship. But if she wants to come over and play basketball - that's cool. This chick is boy-crazy. All I heard yesterday was "Oooh That guy's hot!" and "Did you see that hot guy?". It could have been annoying but I kind of got into it. I told her things like "He's too short for you" and "That guy has stupid hair." Hubby kept asking what we were talking about and then he would regret asking when we told him. She also seemed to want to talk to me about bras and getting her period. Hope I said the right things. It was fun and somewhat scary seeing into the mind of a thirteen year old girl. It was nice that she confided in me and wasn't ashamed to be seen with someone as old as me. I wonder if my daughters will be as open with me when they're that age. Probably not since my name is Mom. Scary times ahead I tell ya...Scary times!
