The doctor says to cut my nails

I'm sorry. I've tried to hold back - but I have to complain. I have had really bad hives everyday - ALL day for almost a week now. Tuesday my upper lip was swollen. I looked like a duck. I've got them from the top of my head to the bottoms of my feet. They are driving me crazy. In fact, this uncomfortable ugly burning itch all over my body overrides all my other thoughts and feelings. I can't concentrate on anything else except maybe that there's a good explanation for all of this. Maybe something good will come of it. Maybe I will be glad that I didn't down a bottle of pills to make this all go away. But it's too early to test.

Yikes, it sounds painful! Hang in there. Does the Doc have any suggestions? (besides the nail cutting). I can't imagine having to just live with it.

Then again, I'm not one for pain or irritation. :-)

I don't have hives, but I do have about 30 bazillion mosquito bites all over my legs!!

I hope your hives clear up soon. And also, I'm hoping my mosquito bites do (mainly because I'm tired of my boyfriend hitting my arm every time I scratch them).

Are the hives from Stress, or a physical factor? That's what I would be asking. Its all wonderful to prescribe nail-cutting or creams, but I think we need to find out what is CAUSING the hives and work on the actual problem instead of the symptom.

Have you attempted to home doctor a bit? An anti-inflammatory (motrin, advil) or a cream like benadryl? What about investigating a natural remedy?

Actually, I'd bet its stress. Does the husband's work benefits cover massage? Go get one!

It's just like mosquito bites only much bigger in most cases. I don't think it's stress right now. I'm not under any more than usual. I've thought of many possible causes but found nothing conclusive. I was advised by three doctors to try not to take meds while I'm trying to get pregnant. (I'm assuming this would include the nine months following) So I just bear with it. If I had a clue what was causing it and could cut that out, it would be great. But as of right now - I'm clueless.

Ahhhh, I see. Yes, it's amazing what One will suffer with when wanting to get pregnant.

Sadly, the first six weeks of LBs life I used teeth whitening products, use dye on my hair, had two alcoholic drinks and drank juice with aspartame.

It's great you can consciously decide to be "clean". Hang in there...
