Yesterday was a strange day. The kids had a half day at school. I took my son to see a movie (and I got paid for doing it), came home feeling great. The she-ex came to pick up her daughter at 4. The plan was for all of us to go and get our flu shots. I wanted the she-ex to take Emily because I didn't want to have to handle the girl freaking out over the needle. Emily begged us to all go together, and so we did - The three kids, the she-ex and me - A big happy family. She didn't even do anything to piss me off. We chatted like chums. After the shots, I brought Emily back home to play with the kids. My son's friend came over and stayed for dinner. The she-ex came back to pick up Em at 8 and again talked my ear off for half an hour.
Then I sat down to watch some TV and it hit me....sore throat, cough, runny nose, headache, queasy stomach, hives, body aches. All this just four hours after getting the flu shot. Coincidence? I think not.
Then...Hubby called me from work. Just received his layoff notice. I guess my daughter was right. It's time Mom got a job. :(
