Bloody mess

I have good kids. I mean, I really do. They've never been one's to get into anything. They rarely get in trouble. That's why last night, I was shocked at the events that took place.

Emily was over. The girls were playing downstairs quietly. I was upstairs with Randy reading a book when:

I hear Emily scream - like a "something really bad just happened" kind of scream. Kianna runs upstairs, her mouth going a mile a minute trying to explain what happened. I jumped up and started running down the stairs to see what was going on. I turned the corner to find Emily - her face covered in red, her white shirt splattered with giant red spots, her hair soaked and and hands dripping with what looked like blood.

"We were throwing paint", Kianna said.
"What??????" My mind is sending me signals...does not compute. Throwing paint? Who throws paint?

I took Emily upstairs and got her cleaned up. Both girls were in big trouble. But what is the punishment for throwing paint in the house? You'd better believe that they both were responsible for cleaning it up. They know that they are not allowed to throw things in the house. They know that they are not supposed to touch my craft paints. Of all the things in this cluttered mess of a room, why would they decide that it would be a good idea to whip bottles of paint at each other? I am speechless.

Kianna went to bed early. Emily sat in a chair until her Mom arrived to pick her up. They both were lectured. They both cried. Somehow, still, I think that I was too easy on them. Remember the days when many a lesson was learned with a spanking? You can't do that today.

In hindsight, it was pretty funny. I wish that I had taken a picture of the gory scene. Seriously though...Who throws paint????
