My daughter told me that she wants to have school spirit and get involved in everything that she can. I love that she's so outgoing and has no fear of new situations. When I was in school, I was so shy that I didn't get involved in anything for fear that I might have to talk to someone or that maybe someone would look at me. I'm so glad that she didn't inherit any of those messed up traits from me - well, except the whole daydreaming and not being able to get anywhere on time thing. Yup. She got that one. That's why when she told me that they were starting a yoga class on Tuesdays before school starts, I laughed. "Yeah, there's now way that you'll be able to attend that one," I said. She can't even make it to school before the bell rings let alone a half hour early. I left the permission form on the table, unsigned.
Then, this morning, before my alarm clock went off, I heard someone up. I figured that it was our son. He's always up and ready for the day before us girls. But when I opened my bedroom door, I saw my daughter standing there. She was dressed, her hair brushed, her bed made and as I gave her a hug and told her how proud I was of her, I heard her waffles pop up from the toaster. I woke up my son, quickly made lunches, got dressed, signed the permission form and we were at school in time for her yoga class!!!
I LOVE IT that my kids are so much better than me!
