So, I just got back from Randy's talent show at school. He was the first act and did well. I skipped a whole day of work just to see a 45 second drum solo and it was worth it. Unfortunately, the person who got Randy started playing drums was unable to make it. Deadbeat Dad is somewhere in Hamilton "taking care of Shannon's kids" according to my son. It's very sad that a 13 year old will give up his paper route money to put gas in the car so that he can go and see his dad on the weekend, but that same 35 year old dad cannot find the time to make a couple of bucks so that he can get to his son's performance. Makes me sick.
Another thing that disgusted me this afternoon was the other parents watching the performances. They talked through the entire show. It was just rude and disrespectful. Those kids worked so hard and were so brave to go up there in front of a large crowd of their peers and to have the adults talking over them was so very wrong. I know it's not easy to sit quietly and smile through the fourth Hillary Duff song of the afternoon - But make an effort. Have some manners. Set an example for the children. Or is that the job of the school system now?
