So, there was a woman at work yesterday who was very upset. She'd obviously been crying. Her eyes were red and puffy and she just seemed really down all day - All eight hours of the work day. The reason: She had to put her dog down.
Now, I can understand being sad about losing a loved family pet. I can see shedding a few tears. It's understandable. I like this woman and see that she's in pain...BUT...crying all day at work over a dog is so NOT something I can comprehend. That's okay. I'm not her, she's not me. It's fine.
The thing is that she got a LOT of sympathy from everyone there. People were talking about it like it was a big news story. She got hugs and cards and flowers....And I think that's nice - UNTIL....someone says to me; "you know, it's just like losing a child!"
Excuse Me?
I smile politely and walk away.
